Description
St. John was one of the 12 apostles and also one of the four Gospel writers. He is symbolized by an eagle as described by the prophet Ezekiel after one of his visions of the four gospel writers. This cold-cast bronze statue depicts him holding an open book and a quill. The pages of the book contain the opening verse of his Gospel; “In the beginning there was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” An eagle stands perched at St. John’s feet. The base of this 8 inch statue has “St. John the Evangelist” on it. Part of the Veronese Collection.
